The Boat House On Harrington Sound 7 Harrington Sound Road, Smith's Parish, Bermuda FL07 Bermuda

\"Bermuda's equivalent to life on Lake Lugano\" is how one of our international clients has described The Boat House at Manor House, an architecturally unique stand-alone residence at the nine-acre Manor House condominium development on the shoreline of Harrington Sound in Smith's Parish. The Boat House was constructed c. 1929 and designed in Beaux-Arts style by Thomas Hastings ( 1858-1929) of the well known American design partnership of Carrere & Hastings, which also designed the New York Public Library and the Frick Museum. A Grade III historic building, the Bermuda National Trust's Architectural Heritage Series describes The Boat House in this way: The interior of the Boat House is spectacular. Bird's eye cedar and Bermuda limestone have have been worked in expert fashion. The ceiling of the main living room is lined in cedar to resemble the upturned bottom of a ship whilst the floor is planked in wide cedar boards caulked to resemble decking. The Bermuda stone is left un-plastered and is carved and sculpted with elaborate dentil moulding. The tower looks as if it should belong to an ancient English church rather than a boathouse. The ironwork at the top incorporates a crab chasing a lobster, which in turn is chasing a bee... Full of character with a blend of Bermudian and European charm, the accommodation includes the impressive entrance hall, the firelit living room with its beautifully crafted cedar-panelled ceiling, a raised dining room, a kitchen & laundry, three bedrooms with bathrooms en-suite, a long balcony, plus a partially enclosed porch which enhances the living space and extends the outstanding views. The middle floor 'mezzanine' comprises a guest suite with its own access to the garden, while the lower floor opens through a gate to an adjoining common sun terrace. The famous Manor House tower and the foot bridge over Harrington Sound Road make the Boat House a Bermuda landmark. Boat House residents may use the Manor House development's stunning swimming pool, common tennis courts, boat storage, sun terrace, jetty and grounds. The conveniences of Flatts Village, including restaurants and the Bermuda Aquarium & Zoo, are within walking distance. This property is available to Bermudians, Permanent Residency Certificate Holders, British Overseas Territory Citizens, and Non-Bermudians via the Economic Investment Residential Certificate program.
